When life tosses you a curve-ball...... Becca’s world as she knows it has just come crashing down around her ears and this is when Josh appears on her ranch. She no longer has any idea who she can trust, her step brother has crashed and burned all her dreams of finally being able to travel by refusing to come back to the ranch – ever! Her man-eating step sister has set her sights on the new ranch manager – Josh and is playing dirty, add to this the day to day running of a ranch, cattle sales, bitchy family members and old crotchety cowboy neighbours used to getting their own way rather than having to answer to ‘little girls’ and is there any wonder that Becca is running on empty? Every minute of every day is a battle from the pre dawn opening of her eyes to the second she closes them again as she drops in to bed each evening, exhausted, drained, frustrated, disappointed and lonely. Can she really trust Josh? Should she listen to her head or her heart? And what about her dreams of travelling? Josh has been burned once, learnt from this and has set his future plans very firmly in concrete.......but are they the right plans?......or by sticking rigidly to these is he missing out on a better future? Seeing Becca stops him in his tracks, seeing the workload she tackles on a daily basis humbles him and makes him want to shoulder some of the load for her and finally hearing the way her step-siblings speak to her and treat her has him wanting to leap to her defence and protect her from the world....completing his fall and bringing him completely to his knees. Is he brave enough to act on his feelings and risk his heart once again? Can he change his plans and risk his future? Or will self preservation kick in and cause him to tuck tail and run? They have 3 months to work it out.....a lot can happen in 3 months! This is book seven in the Cowboy Hero series but is completely stand alone, I had not read any of the series before reading this book but I loved it and read the whole thing in one sitting. I have since bought the first six books in the series too and cannot wait to read them! I was sent this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review, all views expressed are my own.
